School Floor Restoration in South West London | Sanding & Repairs
From the historic assembly halls of Richmond and Wimbledon to the modern primary schools in Wandsworth and Battersea, school flooring endures more “footfall fatigue” than almost any other environment. Over time, even the most robust Victorian pine or heavy-duty oak blocks lose their lustre, becoming dull, scratched, and—more importantly—potentially hazardous.
At South West London Floor Sanding, we understand that a worn-out floor isn’t just an aesthetic issue; it’s a health and safety concern for pupils and staff alike. If your school hall looks tired or your sports floor has lost its grip, you need a specialist local partner who understands the unique requirements of educational facilities.

Our Comprehensive School Floor Restoration Process
We don’t just sand floors; we bring them back to life. Our restoration process is tailored to the specific timber and usage of your building.
Professional Sanding & Repairs
We begin by removing years of old, yellowed varnish and surface scratches. For older buildings common in South West London, we often encounter loose boards or damaged wood blocks. We source reclaimed timber to match existing floors, ensuring a seamless finish.
Gap Filling & Structural Reinforcement
Drafty floorboards can increase heating costs in large school halls. We use a high-quality resin-and-sawdust mix to fill gaps, creating a solid, uniform surface that is easier to clean and maintain.
Sealing and Lacquering
The secret to a long-lasting school floor lies in the finish. We specialise in applying durable floor finishes for school halls that are designed to withstand heavy traffic, dragged chairs, and indoor sports. We typically recommend high-traffic commercial lacquers from industry leaders like Bona or Junckers, which provide excellent slip resistance.
Sports Hall Specialisation
A multi-purpose hall needs to be versatile. We provide expert sports hall floor sanding in South West London, ensuring the surface has the correct “slip-and-slide” ratio required for PE lessons and community sports events. We can also assist with the precision application of court markings for basketball, netball, and badminton.
Longevity Through School Wood Floor Maintenance in South West London
Restoration is an investment, and the best way to protect that investment is through a structured care plan. Regular school wood floor maintenance in South West London can double the lifespan of your floor finish. We offer “deep clean and coat” services that refresh the top layer of lacquer before it wears down to the bare wood, saving the school thousands of pounds in full sanding costs down the line.
